Mort and Ysabell by lynnet Mort and Ysabell by lynnet
Ysabell pushed herself into a sitting position. Her hair was full of sand and her face was full of pyramid dust. Some of her hair frizzled at the tips. She stared listlessly at him.

"Did you hit me?" he asked, gently testing his jaw.
"Yes."
"Oh...thank you."
"Anytime, I assure you."

I like this. The style is really unusual, but effective. The whole negative space thing works, and I like the way you've use lines. Plus, Mort r0cks!

i love the composition, and not jutst for the content. it reminds me strongly of the artwork you would see at the beginning of "mystery theatre" on PBS hosted by vincent price

Thanks bunches (:

Actually, I was mimicking what (odds are) Gorey was mimicking...a Newgate etching, probably almost 100 years before his time. They were a sort of tabloid crime news service...veracity was optional, but blood was compulsory.
